Industrial site near Copenhagen Airport could be transformed into a new cultural activities area
This article is more than 2 years old.
An old factory area close to Copenhagen Airport could be transformed into a cultural industrial park, providing space for small businesses specialising in art and design, as well as sports and cultural facilities.
The mayor of Tårnby Muncipality, Allan S Andersen, accompanied by the development company Øens Invest, has already made a close inspection of the site.
The 80,000 sqm site, located at Amager Landevej 223-233, was formerly home to asphalt manufacturer Peab but was recently taken over by Øens Invest.
Proven track record
Øens Invest, which has prior experience modernising old industrial areas, wants to create an area known as Flyverbyen.
Previously, it completed the construction of Kløverbyen in Raffinaderiveg, south of Copenhagen.
Mayor plans to investigate further
In order to realise Øens Invest’s vision for Flyverbyen, a new local plan for the area may be needed.
“We welcome the new construction and want to look closely at the new plan for the area, but this must of course be done with respect for the surroundings and in dialogue with other players,” said Mayor Andersen.
