Copenhagen Fashion Week

From Monday to Friday, different international and local brands will be showcasing their pieces at this year’s spring/summer edition of Copenhagen Fashion Week. At different venues all over the city interesting events will be taking place – including fashion shows, exhibitions, talks with industry experts, and much more. 

Copenhagen International Fashion Fair

Along with Copenhagen Fashion Week, another event is awaiting the fashion enthusiasts of Copenhagen. During this fair, upcycling workshops, talks with inspiring people from the international fashion industry as well as kids and social events can be expected.

Copenhagen Pride Week

During this year’s Copenhagen Pride Week visitors will get to experience the biggest human rights program ever. More than 160 events and concerts will be taking place all over the city – including one of the best drag concerts in the world, talks, art exhibitions, and children’s activities. The biggest highlight, however, will be the Pride Parade on Saturday 19th – being all electric for the first time.

Copenhagen Opera Festival

When the streets, canals and halls of Copenhagen are filled with music, dance, theatre and drama, it is clear that the Copenhagen Opera Festival is back. World-class artists and opera newcomers will perform at several locations throughout the city – offering something for the whole family. 

Aia Sound Festival

Since being held for the first time in 2021, this music festival’s goal is to provide its visitors with unforgettable experiences and the feeling of community. During more than 27 concerts by some of the most popular Danish and international artists, Copenhageners will dance under the open sky at Tiøren.

Fast Forward Open Air

Italian concert at Reffen

Here For The Ride – Sunday Ride Out to Dragør

As with many other sports, cycling is way more fun with others, for that reason the cycling group ‘Here For The Ride’ has been founded. This Sunday it is possible to join them for a relaxed cycling tour to Dragør – a small town in the south of Copenhagen.

Dutch-Indonesian Rice Table

During this culinary event, attendants will get to explore the Dutch-Indonesian rijsttafel (rice table) tradition, which combines dishes from various Indonesian food cultures often inspired by recipes from the former Dutch East Indies. A survey carried out by Megafon for TV2 has found that 71 percent of parents have handed over children to daycare in spite of them being sick.

Moreover, 21 percent of those surveyed admitted to medicating their kids with paracetamol, such as Panodil, before sending them to school.

The FOLA parents’ organisation is shocked by the findings.

“I think it is absolutely crazy. It simply cannot be that a child goes to school sick and plays with lots of other children. Then we are faced with the fact that they will infect the whole institution,” said FOLA chair Signe Nielsen.

Pill pushers
At the Børnehuset daycare institution in Silkeborg a meeting was called where parents were implored not to bring their sick children to school.

At Børnehuset there are fears that parents prefer to pack their kids off with a pill without informing teachers.

“We occasionally have children who that they have had a pill for breakfast,” said headteacher Susanne Bødker. “You might think that it is a Panodil more than a vitamin pill, if it is a child who has just been sick, for example.”

Parents sick and tired
Parents, when confronted, often cite pressure at work as a reason for not being able to stay at home with their children.

Many declare that they simply cannot take another day off, as they are afraid of being fired.

Allan Randrup Thomsen, a professor of virology at KU, has heavily criticised the parents’ actions, describing the current situation as a “vicious circle”.

“It promotes the spread of viruses, and it adds momentum to a cycle where parents are pressured by high levels of sick-leave. If they then choose to send the children to daycare while they are still recovering, they keep the epidemic going in daycares, and this in turn puts a greater burden on the parents.”
