Ukrainian Embassy in Copenhagen sent ‘bloody package’
This article is more than 2 years old.
Copenhagen Police are investigating the case, which has similar undertones to dozens of other instances across Europe
In recent days, Ukrainian embassies across Europe have received packages containing the severed eyes of animals. Some have even received letter bombs.
Now, the Ukrainian Embassy in Copenhagen can be added to the list – a bloody package arrived in recent days, the embassy confirmed.
“The package resembles the other packages received by Ukrainian embassies in other countries,” the embassy wrote to DR Nyheder.
“With this in mind, we have passed it on to the relevant authorities to have its contents analysed.”
21 cases across 12 countries
Copenhagen Police admit that a report has been lodged in connection with the case, but has no further information to provide at this time.
No-one has yet assumed responsibility for the packages, but the Ukrainian foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba, speculates that Russia is involved.
According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, there are now 21 similar cases across 12 countries, with Denmark and Romania being the latest additions.
“Terrorists will not get away with anything. We will not let them intimidate Ukraine or undermine the work of diplomats. We will continue to defend our diplomatic front, draw weapons and power equipment, strengthen the isolation of Russia, and work on a terrorist-state leadership tribunal,” said Kuleba.
