Gambling is one of the world’s oldest hobbies, and the trend continues to this day. Several myths and facts surrounding gambling have developed and dissipated over the years. As time elapsed and new technology surfaced, gambling evolved. Modern casinos use cutting-edge technology to keep up with changing times.

The myths and facts about gambling have evolved too. Several misconceptions about gambling continue doing the rounds on the internet. Most of them discourage players from gambling. However, these are baseless allegations since they discount the role of Random Number Generators.

Myths and Realities of Gambling
Most people have pre-existing gambling notions, and myths fuel this attitude. Let’s view some of the most prominent gambling myths and try to break them down for you.

Bonus is Never Accessible
One of the most common casino myths is that you can never claim free bonuses. While online casinos advertise fantastic welcome bonuses, cashback offers, and gratis free spins, naysayers claim they are misleading. The primary reason behind this urban legend is illegal casinos. Licensed casinos are legally bound to fulfil their end of the bargain. Hence, always sign up for legal casino sites to avoid getting duped.

Land-based Casinos are Better than Online Casinos
Land-based casinos have been around for decades, while online gambling is relatively new. No proof exists that one is superior to the other since the choices are subjective. Online casinos offer the same benefits as their land-based counterparts. Moreover, they are cheaper, offer fantastic bonuses and greater convenience. You can gamble at a brick-and-mortar or online casino without losing sleep at night.

Gambling is an Excellent Way of Making Money
Lucky punters have won millions in gambling and will continue to win. However, gambling is a game of luck. No matter how hard you focus or hone your skills, luck will always have the upper hand. This is true for most games. Hence, you must choose casino games carefully, preferably ones with a lower house edge.

Winning at Roulette is Simple
Roulette is much more than a simple skill-based game. Your chances of winning in roulette are 9/20 in decimal. Hence, you won’t always have favourable results while playing the game. If you gamble to win, stay away from games of chance like roulette and video slots. Instead, focus on table games like poker, blackjack, baccarat, craps, etc., as the house edge is significantly lower.

Slots are Easy to Win
While video slots offer huge entertainment value and are perfect for amateurs looking to have fun at the casino, they are terrible for making money. Slot machines have a huge house edge and are designed to make money for the casino. Even though slots are known to turn millionaires overnight, your chances of winning are pretty low. Hence, we recommend playing slots for fun. Place small bets to increase the gaming duration, and don’t overshoot your bankroll.

Online Casinos Offer Free Money
Casinos are businesses at the end of the day and are here to make money. Hence, don’t be fooled by the idea of free casino bonuses. While online casinos offer welcome bonuses and cashback prizes, the offers are always accompanied by wagering requirements. Players must wager the bonus several times within a deadline before withdrawing the winnings. Read the casinos’ terms of use carefully before investing.

Deposit Bonuses are Exclusively Meant for New Players
While deposit bonuses are primarily marketed toward new players, online casinos often hand out reload bonuses to patrons. These bonuses are periodically offered along with loyalty bonuses via email. Similarly, if you haven’t signed in to your casino account for a while, you will find deposit bonuses in your inbox. Hence, deposit bonuses aren’t exclusively offered to new players. Sign up for a casino’s newsletters for more information.

No Deposit Bonuses are Risk-Free
While some online casinos offer no deposit bonuses, there is a general misconception that these casinos provide risk-free betting opportunities. While this is true for most cases, illegal casinos pose a threat. Hence, you must exercise caution when picking an online casino, as the risks of unlicensed gambling are pretty acute.

Sports Betting Offers Higher Winnings Than Casino Games
Like gambling, sports betting has its fair share of risks. While bookmaking works differently than the house edge, punters must still exercise caution when comparing the odds. Sports betting is a numbers game. And you must be familiar with your chosen sport to predict the outcome correctly. Your chances of winning are still 50/50.

The House Wins Every Time
While casinos have an advantage in every game, players have a fair chance of winning. The catch is that you must be lucky to win the grand prize. And therein lies the problem. There are no guarantees that you will win a specific hand. Hence, every game presents a new opportunity of winning. Some players are thrilled by this experience and continue chasing their luck, while others want a good time.

Conclusion
There are several myths regarding online gambling. While some are based on truth, others have been conjured from thin air. It’s difficult to tell one apart from the other. So, use your own judgement.

A survey carried out by Megafon for TV2 has found that 71 percent of parents have handed over children to daycare in spite of them being sick.

Moreover, 21 percent of those surveyed admitted to medicating their kids with paracetamol, such as Panodil, before sending them to school.

The FOLA parents’ organisation is shocked by the findings.

“I think it is absolutely crazy. It simply cannot be that a child goes to school sick and plays with lots of other children. Then we are faced with the fact that they will infect the whole institution,” said FOLA chair Signe Nielsen.

Pill pushers
At the Børnehuset daycare institution in Silkeborg a meeting was called where parents were implored not to bring their sick children to school.

At Børnehuset there are fears that parents prefer to pack their kids off with a pill without informing teachers.

“We occasionally have children who that they have had a pill for breakfast,” said headteacher Susanne Bødker. “You might think that it is a Panodil more than a vitamin pill, if it is a child who has just been sick, for example.”

Parents sick and tired
Parents, when confronted, often cite pressure at work as a reason for not being able to stay at home with their children.

Many declare that they simply cannot take another day off, as they are afraid of being fired.

Allan Randrup Thomsen, a professor of virology at KU, has heavily criticised the parents’ actions, describing the current situation as a “vicious circle”.

“It promotes the spread of viruses, and it adds momentum to a cycle where parents are pressured by high levels of sick-leave. If they then choose to send the children to daycare while they are still recovering, they keep the epidemic going in daycares, and this in turn puts a greater burden on the parents.”
