Denmark among top EU countries for bathing water quality

Of its 1,031 bathing areas, almost 92 percent were rated as being of an excellent quality, according to the European Environment Agency
There’s a good bit of news for people hankering for a dip this summer … if it ever arrives.
According to the annual European Environment Agency report regarding bathing water quality in 2021, Denmark ranked among the best in the EU.
Denmark ranked sixth overall, behind only leaders Austria, Malta, Greece, Croatia and Cyprus, in terms of the proportion of bathing waters with excellent quality.
Of its 1,031 bathing areas, 91.9 percent were rated as being of an excellent quality.

Not in Pole position
Looking across Europe, 84.7 percent of its 21,859 bathing sites were deemed to be of an excellent quality.
Poland ranked last on the list, preceded by Slovakia, Hungary, Estonia and Albania.
Other notables with an above average EU score included Germany (7th), Finland (11th) and Spain (13th).
Sweden, France, Ireland, Switzerland and the Netherlands all received below average scores.
