Løkke at sea: Former PM to star in reality TV show
This article is more than 4 years old.
Lars Løkke Rasmussen will be attempting to sail across the Atlantic this year as part of the reality TV show ‘Over Atlanten’
The next season of ‘Over Atlanten’ will have a guest for the history books, with former Danish PM Lars Løkke Rasmussen stepping on board in an attempt to sail the Atlantic.
Løkke will be joining an all-star team including the cook book author Ditte Julie Jensen, radio and TV host Felix Smith, and the Olympic swimmer Sarah Bro.
Contestants will be sailing under the guidance of the Olympic gold-medallist and sailor Jesper Bank, but otherwise will be relying on their own experience to reach the other side of the Atlantic after setting out from Lanzarote on November 26.
Lars looking forward to the challenge
Despite the challenges ahead, the former PM is looking forward to what might be a life-changing experience.
“I’ve been going at 100 miles per hour since I was 17 years old – and for a long time now I’ve been needing a real mental break. Now, I’m finally in a position where I’m not on the frontline of politics. I have an urge to simply sit and stare at the endless sea and think over what I want to do with the rest of my life,” he said.
“I’ve never really sailed further than Helsingør-Helsingborg, so I’m a little worried about getting seasick. But as many have said, I’m stubborn by nature, so I’m sure I’ll manage the trip – even if the waves get high.”
The third season of ‘Over Atlanten’ will air in the spring of 2021 – first on Dplay and later on Kanal 5.
