August Performance: Cosying up to Charlottenborg’s classical charm

Since 1969, this classical chamber music festival, mainly performed by young upcoming talents, has been delighting audiences at Charlottenborg Festsal, and this year there are 13 concerts over 12 days with plenty to get excited about
Featuring both classical and modern compositions, some of the concerts are free, while others tend to cost no more than 100 kroner to enter.
One night that never fails to deliver features young prize winners from various national music competitions. Starting at 19:30 on August 4, the program includes Handel and Bach.
And two days later, long-time event organiser Poul Rosenbaum is in action himself, performing in a piano duo.

This international street theatre festival is unique. Taking over various locations, in residential areas as well as on the main street, the performers will turn the whole city into one big stage. (PS)
Shakespeare Festival

As if the puppet shows and Hamlet shows aren’t enough, the castle has squeezed in an open-air screening of the 1994 film Rosenkrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (Aug 20) and a Japanese group’s Hamlet sequel, Ophelia – Noh (Aug 22-23).
Chopin Danser

Open Air Opera

A must for all opera lovers, this annual event sees the Royal Theatre tour the country promoting their next season. Bring a picnic and wine and stay tuned for news of a possible date in Gentofte. No confirmation at the time of going to press!
CPH Summer Dance
