Nothing should obscure the view of churches

The Church of Denmark has been opposing a number of construction projects that could potentially obscure the views of churches in several towns, reports Kristeligt Dagblad.
In the past four years, eight out of the church’s ten dioceses have tried to veto – sometimes repeatedly – the construction of high-rise buildings planned to stand in the vicinity of a church.
Folkekirken protested against the construction of a high-rise building in Vejle because the local parish believed it would block views of Skt Nicolai Kirke.
Architects of a residential building in Tjørring at Herning had to cut off one floor, so it would not overshadow the tower of Baunekirke.
In December, Aalborg Diocese opposed a wind-turbine project at Sdr Rubjerg and Vejby near Hjørring because it would obscure views of Sejlstrup Kirke and Jestrup Kirke.
