Mars, the company behind Mars, Snickers and Milky Way chocolate bars, has recalled its products in 55 countries, including Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland, after a consumer found pieces of plastic in a Snickers bar in Germany in January.
The plastic was traced back to the Mars factory in the southern town of Veghel in the Netherlands. The recall only involved products manufactured at the Dutch plant.
“We have a case in Germany of a piece of plastic in a chocolate bar,” Ylva Freisesleben, the Nordic Corporate Affairs head at Mars, told TV2 News.
“It is the only case in Europe, but as a precaution we have recalled everything that can be traced to the same production facility.”
Many varieties
The Snickers, Mars, Milky Way and Celebrations chocolates were produced at the Dutch factory between the beginning of January and early February this year.
They are sold both in large and mini sizes, in bags, in packages of single and multiple bars, in tubes of one and a half and three kilos and in boxes of 2.5 kilos.
The candy has use by dates ranging from 19 June 2016 to 8 January 2017.
Mars Denmark stressed that it has not received any complaints and apologises for any inconvenience caused to Danish consumers.
