DF politician loses position for likening those helping refugees with WW2 German sympathisers

Jens Hald has been removed from his post as Dansk Folkeparti’s (DF) local chairman in Nyborg following comments in which he likened the group Venligboerne, which works to help refugees, with German sympathisers during the Second World War, DR reports.
Shave them bald
Hald made the comments on his Facebook profile on Tuesday last week. He said that those helping refugees should suffer the same fate as the so-called tyskerpiger – women who had relations with German soldiers during the occupation of Denmark.
“These Venligboere are carrying out activities injurious to the country in the same way as Danes who during the German occupation welcomed the Germans,” he said.
“The day it becomes clear to the Danish population that this is completely crazy we will cut these Venligboere completely bald, like the tyskerpiger were in their time.”
DF: “completely unacceptable”
Thomas Laursen, a member of the municipal council in Nyborg for Socialistisk Folkeparti, told TV2 News last week that he reported Hald to the police for the statement.
“In my opinion it is a criminal offence, because it expresses a concrete threat to people who can be identified here and now. It is completely wrong and unacceptable,” he said.
Poul Lindholm Nielsen, DF’s party secretary described the comments as “completely unacceptable” and “well over the line”, explaining the decision to issue Hald with a written warning.
Nielsen announced on Sunday that Hald would be removed from his post with immediate effect for not complying with the terms of his warning by apologising and refraining from making further comments on the subject.
Hald has however not been thrown out of the party and will continue as an ordinary member unless he chooses to resign.
