FCM ends Club Brugge’s streak against Danish teams
FC Midtjylland finally broke Club Brugge’s hold on Danish football teams following a strong 3-1 win against the Belgian side in Group D in the Europa League (EL) last night.
The Belgians ousted FC Copenhagen, Brøndby and Aalborg from last year’s EL, but found themselves soundly beaten at home by the Danish champions thanks to second half goals from Pione SIsto, Paul Onuachu and Filip Novak.
The Wolves now find themselves in a good position to qualify for the knockout rounds after just two games thanks to a home 1-0 win against Legia Warsaw in the first round two weeks ago.
“It’s a brilliant result,” Jacob Poulsen, FCM’s captain, told Canal 9. “We got better with the ball in the second half and were able to exert pressure on them.”
“That gave us set-pieces, which we know we are good at. We also had a little luck with a deflected goal.”

Napoli challenge
The Danish club’s six points puts them second in the group behind Napoli, who lead on goal difference, as the Italian giants beat the Poles 2-0 in Warsaw.
Next up for FCM on October 22 will be the sternest test yet as they welcome Napoli to Herning.
