Crown Princess Mary and other dignitaries, including the mayor of Aarhus, visited the International School of Aarhus Academy for Global Education on Wednesday September 16 to officially inaugurate the school’s new campus.
Upon her arrival, Princess Mary was greeted by an excited crowd of pupils waving international flags, who then sang a special tribute song to the guest of honour and performed a poetry slam.
Selfies with students
A visibly touched princess blew the pupils a kiss and proceeded to consecrate a ‘bench of friendship’.
The Crown Princess then made time to talk to some of the students, and several lucky ones were able to get a selfie with her.
“Being part of a school with many nationalities is a privilege. To meet and learn about other cultures and see the world from a different perspective opens up many new opportunities,” Crown Princess Mary said.
Salling donation
The new AAGE campus is located in the centre of Aarhus and was purchased thanks to a donation from the Salling Foundation.
The larger building is able to accommodate up to 500 students and provides access to the nearby sport facilities.
