PM sending a letter to 1.5 million households warning them against Venstre and DF
As the election campaign heads into its final days, PM Helle Thorning-Schmidt is sending a letter to 1.5 million voters today and tomorrow warning in no uncertain terms of the dangers of voting for Venstre and Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
“Denmark is out of the crisis,” reads the letter. “We must maintain the course and say no to Lars Løkke Rasmussen and Venstre’s zero growth plan.”
Same words, different senders
The letter has been sent to 1.5 million households, with 1.2 million of those being signed by Thorning-Schmidt.
The other 300,000 will bear the signature of a local politician.
In Herlev, for example, the letter is signed by mayor Thomas Gyldal Petersen.
“Venstre’s key issue is zero growth,” continues the letter. “Rather than using more money on the health and care of our elderly, they want to give tax breaks.”
“A desperate act”
The letter also sends a warning to any Dane considering voting for Dansk Folkeparti (DF).
“DF talks a lot about welfare, but if you vote for DF, you’ll get Lars Løkke Rasmussen as prime minister.”
Venstre spokesperson Inger Støjberg called the letter “pure scaremongering”.
“It is a completely desperate act from Helle Thorning-Schmidt,” Støjberg told Jyllands-Posten.
“She spends her time sending out letters featuring a scare campaign against Venstre rather than developing her own policy.”
