Employee of national police force among those rounded up in bribery case
South Zealand and Lolland-Falster police have arrested 13 people, including an employee of the national police force Rigspolitiet, in a case involving the alleged bribery of public officials.
The case concerns suspected financial relationships between public officials and private suppliers of IT to the region.
Closed-door hearings will take place this afternoon at the court in Nykøbing Sjælland.
Along with the police employee, municipal Zealand employees and persons associated with two IT suppliers have been arrested.
Property seized
Nearly 20 addresses in Zealand have been searched. Police have seized a large number of items of personal property, including IT equipment, that will now be examined for clues.
Police Director Lene Frank told DR Nyheder that this is a “serious case”.
The case was brought to the attention of police by the regional government body Region Zealand.
“We asked for the police investigation and are confident that there will be a clarification of whether any criminal offences have been committed,” IT director Per Buchwaldt told DR Nyheder.
“We will now let the police do their work and currently have no further comment on the matter.”
Rigspolitiet confirmed that one of their employees had been arrested, but had no further comment.
