Viktor Fischer, Pierre Emile Højbjerg, Jores Okore and Jannick Vestergaard on the team
Denmark is arguably entering its best-ever squad in the Under-21 European Championship this summer in the Czech Republic.
Coach Jess Thorup, who guided the youngsters through an undefeated qualification campaign, has picked a solid mix of players including Jores Okore, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, Jannik Vestergaard and Viktor Fischer.
Where’s Lucas?
The most glaring omission is probably Ajax starlet Lucas Andersen, while the Superliga’s top-scorer Mads Hvilsom will also be disappointed to miss out.
The FC Copenhagen trio of Andreas Cornelius, Danny Amankwaa and Yussef Toutouh are also out due to long-term injuries. Okore’s knee is a concern and the Aston Villa defender could end up being replaced by FC Midtjylland’s Patrick Banggaard.
Denmark kicks off their tournament against hosts Czech Republic on June 17, before taking on favourites Germany (June 20) and Serbia (June 23).
But before the tournament, the Danes play a friendly against Sweden on June 11 at Lyngby Stadium (entrance is free).
Denmark are 11/1 sixth favourites to win the tournament with Bet 365.
