Towns joining chorus of voices against drilling
Drilling for shale gas – the practice of fracking – in northern Jutland has resulted in major protests by local people and various environmental organisations.

Now several municipalities in northern Jutland may join the voices of those want want the drilling stopped.
Aalborg Municipality will vote this afternoon on whether to send a letter to the Environment Ministry seeking to prevent future drilling and fracking in the municipality.

Frack off
Aalborg is one of a number of municipalities where the French company Total has been granted the rights to exploratory drilling.
The municipalities of Frederikshavn and Hjørring will vote later this month on making a similar request to the ministry.

Total has already launched exploratory drilling in Frederikshavn Municipality at Dybvad.
