Counterfeiter worked in both Copenhagen and Jutland before being nailed this weekend
East Jutland Police arrested a 48-year-old man in Aarhus over the weekend for using counterfeit 500 euro notes at stores in Copenhagen and Aarhus.
Police nabbed the counterfeiter after being contacted by a observant store employee in the Jutland city.
More notes could be out there
The man has been remanded to custody for 14 days. Copenhagen Police have taken over the case as it is believed he had been previously active in the capital.
Copenhagen Police said the 48-year-old may have one accomplice who is still at large.
The scam involved using 500 euro notes to make purchases at various stores and then getting the change back in legitimate currency.
“The man is charged in ten different cases,” Tommy Keil, a deputy police inspector with Copenhagen Police, told TV2 News.
