Underwater mine threat to windpark

Contract deadline subject to extension, providing at least two UXOs are found
The winner of the tender to construct the proposed Horns Rev 3 windfarm is entering a minefield, literally.
The contract will stipulate that should two unexploded ordnances (UXOs) – German-built leftovers from the Second World War – be found in the site off the coast of southwest Jutland, then an extension to the completion deadline can be applied.
Find only one, though, and the contractors will have to soldier on, reports Ingeniøren.
Could be 70 on site
Some experts estimate that there could be as many as 70 UXOs located on the site.
The UXOs tend to weigh 25 kg and have an explosive charge of up to 700 kg.
If a UXO is found, the navy's mine clearance service will be called to examine it, and if need be, move it or blow it up
Lars Møller, the commander of the unit, told Ingeniøren that on a good weather day, the navy can remove or blow at least one a day.
