Single man claims the sites’ solution is discriminatory
With the camping season approaching, some will be looking forward to another season of nudist camping. But Ekstra Bladet reports that it is a problem for sites that single, fully-clothed men are prowling, not to take part in the nudity but to take a peek at it.
Sylvia Andersen, the head of the nudist camping site NFJ Naturistcamping at Kysing Strand, between Aarhus and Odder, described the ‘elevator glance’ (presumably scanning up and down) as the peeking method of choice. “We can’t be bothered with those elevator glances from short-stay guests,” she said.
“Especially men, who come fully-clothed to ogle our campers with elevator glances. I ask them to find another place to be.”
Discrimination alleged
According to Ekstra Bladet, the pervasiveness of the problem has allegedly prompted some sites to refuse access to single campers, causing one nudist to complain of discrimination to the equal opportunities authority Ligebehandlingsnævnet.
The unhappy camper had been a member of the nudist organisation Dansk Naturist Union for four years and had visited seven of Denmark’s eight nudist camps before claiming to be refused access to a site because he was single.
The campsite refuted the claim. “We let single people of both sexes in, as long as they behave in a decent way, so that other campers can be comfortable with them,” the campsite responded to Ligebehandlingsnævnet.
The site claimed that it was the man’s behaviour that led to him being refused access. Ligebehandlingsnævnet would not take a position on the case.
