Two preteen girls rescued from suspected pimp and Danish accomplice
A 54-year-old Danish man and a 34-year-old Filipino man suspected of being a pimp were arrested and charged with human trafficking in Cebu in the Philippines on Monday night.
“The Dane is charged under the most serious clause in our human trafficking laws,” police spokesperson Sheril Baudista told TV2 News. “The maximum penalty is life in prison.
Baudista said that police acted on a tip-off that the Filipino had taken two girls aged 11 and 12 from their home in Mandaue to the Dane’s apartment in Cebu. Police found the girls in the apartment on Tuesday morning.
According to the Filipino Sun Star newspaper, the Dane is accused of procuring girls for the purpose of exploiting them sexually.
Neighbour sounded the alarm
The parents of the two girls had asked police for help when their 12-year-old neighbour told them where the sisters might be. The 12-year-old was also allegedly exploited by the alleged pimp and the Dane. The sisters were allegedly introduced to the Dane in December of last year.
