Controversial artist Dan Park attacked in Copenhagen
This article is more than 10 years old.
The controversial Swedish artist Dan Park – whose pictures were initially banned in Sweden after being deemed racist and de-humanising before being exhibited in Copenhagen – was beaten up on January 1 on his way home from celebrating New Year's Eve.
At around 10 in the morning, Park was approached by six masked men who knocked him to the floor and proceeded to kick and punch him in front of 7-Eleven on Jagtvej, he revealed on his Facebook page.
”The new year started well. I was attacked by six masked 'anti fascists' on Jagtvej, Nørrebro in Copenhagen,” Park wrote on Facebook. ”Apparently not everyone in Denmark likes my art.”

Not a deterrent
Park, who has also been attacked in Malmö before, said that he will not yield to the violence and will spend even more time in Copenhagen in the future.
”They can't scare me off,” Park told Jyllands-Posten newspaper.
Park was treated at a hospital and has reported the incident to the police, who are looking into the case.
