Company continues to face repercussions following bankruptcy
According to the prosecutor for serious economic and international crime (SØIK), a former OW Bunker head was arrested yesterday on suspicion of fraud in Italy.
The former head will face hearings for detention and extradition to Italy.
Morten Niels Jakobsen, an attorney with the public prosecutor's office expects that the person will be handed over to Italian authorities in a ”few weeks” and points out that even if he is extradited, authorities here will continue to have the opportunity to interview him if their investigations require it.

”We are, from the Danish side, of course also very aware of the role the person arrested may have in an extensive number of cases,” said Jakobsen in a press release.
”We are currently working with the liquidators and looking into OW Bunker's estate, but we are not yet fully aware of what happened in the bankrupt company.”
Earlier in the week it was reported that a Dane was among six people arrested in Rome in connection with a corruption case involving a fictitious oil deal. It has not been revealed whether the arrest here was connected to the arrests in Rome.
