Suspect accused of forcing himself upon a woman and then throwing her into the harbour
A 33-year-old man is in custody in Copenhagen charged with aggravated assault, rape and attempted murder.
The man allegedly raped and assaulted a woman in a trailer located on Kalvebod Brygge and then threw her into the harbour.
The attack was so violent the woman fainted, after which the man is accused of throwing her into the harbour.
Playing dead
According to the police, the woman, fearing for her life, lay still in the water until the man left. He did not attempt to help her. She was then able to get out of the water on her own.
The cold temperature of the water and the fact that the woman was under the influence of alcohol have led to the police charging her assailant with attempted murder.
The man has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
