Pump producer showcasing green tech in Masdar City
The Danish pump manufacturer Grundfos has become a resident of Masdar City in Abu Dhabi – the world’s first zero-carbon city.
Masdar is free of cars and skyscrapers and was established by the government of Abu Dhabi to advance the development of green energy and clean technologies.
A fitting location
Henning Sandager, the head of Grundfos Gulf Distribution, explained in a press release that the company’s values made the city a fitting location. “We are happy to have this new branch office in Masdar,” he said.
“The city is already well-known in the Middle East for renewable energy and energy conservation projects, and at Grundfos we also work towards the same goals through our pumping systems. We hope our association with Masdar will help in future business.”
A major contributor
Stephen Severance, the head of corporate development and strategic partnerships in Masdar City, said that Grundfos had contributed technology to the project.
“I am happy to reveal that all the main pumps in the existing Masdar Institute Buildings are from Grundfos,” he said.
“We are also proud to have a Grundfos Solar pumping system connected to the fountain inside Masdar City, which showcases Grundfos’s capability in the area of renewable energy. We hope to have more mutually beneficial projects in the future years to come.”
