Dnipro supporters say they were provoked
The drama was happening off the pitch at last night’s Champions League qualifying match between FC Copenhagen and Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk. During half-time several of the Ukranian team’s fans jumped over a fence to chase after the Danish spectators.
Provocation?
Referee Andre Marriner delayed the start of the second-half, as FCK fans took cover under the stands. But, while FCK complained about the attack at a press conference after the match, according to the Daily Mail, a representative of one of Dnipro’s supporter groups claimed that the Ukranian fans were provoked by FCK supporters flying a Russian.
“I would like to apologise for this incident. It was some sort of a provocation. The Danish fans demonstrated the flag of the neighboring country, that is why we saw the brawl. The incident was inflammatory because of politics,” the representative, who identified himself as Vlad, told the paper.
The match ended 0-0.
