Leading Danish marine fuel company strengthens Norwegian presence
OW Bunker, Denmark’s second-biggest company and one of the world’s leaders in marine fuel distribution, has acquired the Norwegian company Wilhelmsen Marine Fuels for an undisclosed sum, OW Bunker wrote in a press release today.
Götz Lehsten, OW Bunker's executive vice-president, explained the company’s motivation for the the acquisition."Wilhelmsen Marine Fuels has a strong team and an interesting customer base that fits well into OW Bunker's integrated business model,” he stated in the press release.
“Apart from strengthening our position in Norway, Wilhelmsen Marine Fuels has the potential to support both our reselling and physical distribution activities."
Wilhelmsen Marine Fuels has 15 employees and will become a fully owned subsidiary of OW Bunker as of 1 July.
OW Bunker has over 600 employees, operating in 29 countries. It is listed on the NASDAQ OMX Copenhagen.
